Arts and Entertainment
Ida Grove’s youth have many opportunities to express themselves artistically; whether it’s through watercolor, ceramics, public speaking, or acting, students of all ages have an opportunity to express their artistic side.
At the high school level, teacher-sponsors offer time outside of class to experience higher levels of involvement in these crafts. Art Club is involved with local events at the Morningside Care Center and our Ida County Conservation Center; these students also expand their horizons by visiting Omaha’s Old Market District and the Joslyn Art Museum.
Speech and Drama students participate in a fall musical and spring play; opportunities exist for actors, stage hands, and set-designers. Individual and Large Group Speech Contest is offered with the season lasting from January through April for those who take part in both.
Summer Art Week is part of our Ida Grove Recreational Center’s youth offering during the summer. See the rec center’s schedule of events for more information.
For adults, “Art in the Vineyard” is held the final Sunday of July at our local Old Town Vineyard and Winery. Artist from the area and outside our fair city exhibit and sell their work. And what Vineyard event would be complete without… yes, wine! Music and treats are also part of the event.
