Ida Grove is home to GOMACO, a worldwide distributor and manufacturer of concrete paving equipment. With more than 300 employees at their manufacturing plants in Ida Grove, as well as administrative staff around the world, GOMACO is a world leader in slipform paving technology and equipment manufacturing. Distinguished for their innovative ideas, GOMACO’s long list of accomplishments include an underwater paving project in California. Their unique training facility, GOMACO University, houses a fabulous collection of vintage luxury automobies and wooden boats, collected by GOMACO’s late founder, Harold Godbersen. Gomaco Trolley Company is a unique division of GOMACO Corporation, specializing in the construction and reconditioning of trolley cars.
We’re also home to Midwest Industries, world leader in the production and sale of ShoreLand’r boat trailers, ShoreStation boat hoists and a collection of agricultural equipment. Midwest employs more than 300 employees in its 15-acre Ida Grove plant, eight of which are under one roof. Midwest’s sister company, Byron Originals, manufactures molded parts for Midwest and recreational products. thecompany also has a convention, testing and display facility located on a lake east of Ida Grove that sports a chalet and a half-scale replica of the HMS Bounty English sailing ship. Midwest’s late founder, Byron Godbersen (brother of GOMACO’s founder, Harold Godbersen), is also responsible for building many of the castle structures around Ida Grove.
Ida Grove also has a wide range of agricultural, retail and service oriented businesses, as well as plenty of places to have a good time or go out to for a quiet meal.
