Parks and Trails
Our Pleasant Valley Trail is a recreation trail that surrounds the town with paved walkway with many entrance points. The trail passes through or near most parks in the area, and runs near the OA/BC-IG Elementary, OA/BC-IG High School, Ida Grove Community Recreation Center, the nine-hole Golf and Country Club, and the outdoor swimming pool.
A pedestrian bridge invites walkers, cyclists and roller-bladers to enter Ida County’s Moorehead Park where the trail begs folks to check out Ida Grove’s historic buildings, travel through a wooded area, stop by the Ida County Conservation Center, and venture into a county park, complete with playground equipment and dirt trails for the really adventurous.
City Park is located near city center with an entrance off of Moorehead Avenue; you’ll hear citizens refer to this as the ‘Purple Park’ due to the obviously purple playground equipment. This park has become home to summer Wednesday night neighborhood grilling, our town’s June Heritage Day’s weekend, and an all-around comfortable place for family’s to hang out.
Other parks include a City Park just inside the the entrance of Zobel’s Addition and Cobb Park, managed by our American Legion. Cobb Park has a camping area and fishing for the young and young at heart. This Park is located west of town with an entrance off of Highway 175.
