Ida County tests the outdoor warning sirens in Ida Grove the first Monday of each month at noon and as part of the Iowa Statewide Tornado drill, usually in March or April. When we activate the sirens for sever weather, it is only for a Tornado Warning. The sirens by default operate for 2 minutes. We would then restart them 3 minutes after that to run for another 2 minutes, and so on until the warning has expired. We don’t issue an “All Clear”, we don’t set the sirens off for any other reason (severe thunderstorms warning, tornado watch, etc)
We strongly encourage people to sign up for emergency alerts at: http://entry.inspironlogistics.com/ida_ia/wens.cfm
