The origin of Schlessman Seed Company began in 1915 when John Schlessman started to grow seed for local farmers. Eventually, his four sons joined him. Today Schlessman Seed Company is a family owned business.
Schlessman Seed Co. is located in Milan, Ohio, where we produce popcorn seed for commercial processors all over the world as well as hybrid seed corn, sweet corn, oats, and wheat seed.
The office in Ida Grove, Iowa is the base for our Popcorn Research. Breeding of white and yellow kernel popcorn hybrids, with an emphasis on early maturity is the core of the breeding program.
At Schlessman we utilize the latest in technology to advance our breeding program, and analyze thousands of yield trials annually. All of our popcorn in GMO Free, and is available to any grower.
