Lake LaJune Chalet
Byron Godbersen built Lake LaJune (named for his wife, LaJune) in 1969 to demonstrate recreational equipment for the customers of Midwest Industries. On the lake is a half-scale reproduction of the HMS Bounty, constructed by Midwest employees in 1970. Five miles of rope were used in the rigging, the masts and the yardarms. In 1973-74, he constructed a hangar with a huge banquet room with carpeted walls, mosaic tile floor, a fireplace and waterfalls with running water. The hanger also houses Byron Godbersen’s private plane, a working replica of a 1929 Mercedes constructed from a kit, a WACO bi-plane, and a display of several of Byron Original’s wooden model airplanes manufactured in Ida Grove. The hanger is utilized for banquets, entertaining and political functions. Before his inauguration in 1988, President George Bush spoke at the hangar.
Battle Creek-Ida Grove Community School Systems
The BCIG School District was formed in August 1994. The district currently serves approximately 800 students at four attendance centers. The elementary (K-4) and high school (9-12) are located in Ida Grove, with the middle school (5-8) located in Battle Creek (seven miles to the west). The fourth attendance center is the Early Childhood Center (ECC) in Ida Grove. In the ECC is the special needs preschool classroom, alternate kindergarten classroom, and the Sac-Ida Alternative High School. The ECC building also houses the Sealed With A Kid Daycare, Gingerbread Preschool, two Head Start classrooms, Western Hills AEA 12 offices, and the administrative offices and auditorium for the BCIG School District. www.bc-ig.k12.ia.us
Horn Memorial Hospital

Ida County Courthouse
A National Historical Landmark. Original building constructed in 1872. Addition was constructed in the 1980s.
Moorehead House
Ida County Historical Society Museum. All preservations are accomplished through local donations and grants. It is open two days a week in the summer, and by special appointment at other times. The Historical Society hosts an open house every year during the Christmas season. A complete tour takes 1 1/2 hours. Contact Vi Witte at 712-364-2070 to set up your tours.
The Moorehead House was constructed in 1883 by the sons of one of the first settlers here. It was turned over to the Ida County Historical Society in 1982 with the stipulation that it would be restored in the form of a museum.
Morningside Rehab and Care Center
A 64 bed care facility that is dual certified by the State of Iowa for Medicare and Medicaid residents. Morningside is well known for their quality care of residents and for the low staff turnover.
