  • Byron Godbersen built Lake LaJune (named for his wife, LaJune) in 1969 to demonstrate recreational equipment for the customers of Midwest Industries. On the lake is a half-scale reproduction of the HMS Bounty, constructed by Midwest employees in 1970. In 1973-74, he constructed a hangar with a huge banquet room with carpeted walls, mosaic tile floor, a fireplace and waterfalls with running water. The hanger housed Byron Godbersen’s private plane at one time, but now displays several of Byron Original’s wooden model airplanes manufactured in Ida Grove and is utilized for banquets, entertaining and political functions.
