Steering Committee Meeting for the City of Ida Grove Comprehensive Plan
The City of Ida Grove will be holding a Steering Committee meeting for the City's Comprehensive Plan with assistance from Siouxland Interstate Metropolitan Planning Council (SIMPCO). The meeting will be held on Monday October 2nd at 5pm in the City Council Chambers. The purpose of the Comprehensive Plan is to provide a current inventory of community resources and issues, and a thoughtful statement of the community’s vision and goals for the future. Encourage a love of reading - stop by to check out Paws to Read! Paws to Read is a special after school library program welcoming Loger Comfort/Therapy Dogs. Children will have an opportunity to strengthen reading and comprehension skills while reading, or listening, to a story. For boys and girls, ages 6-15. Join us for a friendly football skills competition. This will take place up at the ball field complex, on the practice field area. The Kiwanis will also be grilling before and during the event. Pre-register at the Rec Center by October 19, 2017.

Bring your families and meet at Godbersen park at 5:30 PM for a small costume contest and parade. After the parade a treat bag filled with goodies from Ida Grove businesses and glow necklaces will be available to make our kids more visible while out after dark. Trick or treating will begin following the parade and last until 8:00 PM. If you will be handing out candy from your home please remember to turn on an outdoor light

6th Annual Fun Run/Walk Prediction "Race" Thanksgiving Morning 8:30 AM (registration begins at 7:45 AM) The fun/walk will be held on the Pleasant Valley Trail (in town only), starting and ending at the Rec Center. The winner of the fastest time and the winner of the closest prediction will each receive a dozen decorated Thanksgiving cookies. $5 of each registration will be donated to the Ida County Food Pantry and $5 will go to the Rec Center.

Join Fonsiba to learn about African drumming and culture. In 2003, Fonsiba spent six weeks living with the Dembele family, whose traditional drummers go back thirty generations. She apprenticed with the family elder, Dramane Dembele, and performed with his drum troupe at several African weddings. Join noted Northwest Iowa photographer Don Poggensee for a special guided exhibit of his work on Thursday, November 15th at 6:30 pm. The exhibit will feature a variety of photographs taken throughout his career, including photographs of the Amish, northern lights, star trails, wildlife, nature and other special images.
