Boil Advisory 5-8-24
Power outage in town and the water tower empty for painting has caused depressurization in the system and requires the city to issue a boil advisory once the water is back on. The water may be used, but not consumed prior to boiling. If you could please pass this info to your employers and fellow businesses, it would be greatly appreciated. Warmer weather is just around the corner! The City of Ida Grove reminds residents of the requirements for mowing of their properties within the City limits under Chapter 8.30 of the City Code. It is unlawful for owners of each lot and parcel of ground within the city limits to fail, refuse, or neglect to cut or destroy all weeds, vines, brush or other growth and debris. Property owners are reminded that any vegetation which reaches a height of more than 8 inches is required to be mowed. Any property not mowed after the vegetation reaches 8 inches in height, may be mowed by the City or their agents, and a charge of $75.00 per hour plus a surcharge of $100.00 will be charged to the property owner. This publication will serve as notice to property owners.

The City of Ida Grove reminds residents not to blow grass clippings into city streets or alleys to prevent clogging of city storm drains. Leaving grass clippings in any street or alley is considered a “nuisance” and also includes debris such as leaves, brush, nails, glass, or rubbish of any kind. The placing of debris, including grass clippings, on streets and alleys could lead to violators being charged for clean-up per City Code 12.30.030. Placing Debris on Streets, Violation and Abatement.

Property owners are responsible for maintenance of trees on their property and on the city parking adjacent to their property as stated in City Ordinance 12.05.040. All branches are to be at least 15 feet above the street surface and 8 feet above sidewalks. Trees, bushes, shrubs, etc. are to be trimmed so they do not obstruct pedestrians, vision of traffic signs, or the view of any street or alley intersection. Alleys also need to be cleared to allow truck passage.

Notice of Scheduled Repair/Maintenance
The City of Ida Grove will be replacing a broken water valve on Monday, November 20th. This work does require a boil notice advisory for your residence. You may use the water, but do not drink, cook or consume the water without boiling it first. The advisory will be in effect from 8 am on November 20th through Noon on November 22nd. Notice Of Public Hearing-Proposed Budget FY24
The City Council will conduct a public hearing on the proposed budget at temporary City Hall, 311 Barnes Street, Ida Grove on 4-3-2023 at 5:30 PM. Any resident or taxpayer may present objections to, or arguments in favor of, any part of the proposed budget. The attached notice has been published in the Ida County Courier (3-22-2023) and on the city of Ida Grove Facebook page in addition to the website.
FY24 Maximum Tax Hearing Notice
Per SF 634- a public hearing will be held at the Ida Grove Rec Center, Temporary City Hall, on 2/6/2023 at 5:30 PM on the proposed maximum property tax dollars from certain levies. Residents and taxpayers of the City may present to City Council any objections or arguments in favor of the tax dollars before the budget is adopted and certified to the County Auditor. The attached notice has been published in the Ida County Courier (1-25-2023), and on the City of Ida Grove, Recreation Center, Library, and the Fire Department Facebook pages in addition to the website.

Important Re-Opening Plans
During the city council meeting held Monday, June 1, 2020 the following decisions were made:
- City playgrounds to open June 3, 2020
- City park restrooms opening June 3, 2020
- City Park and Cobb Park are open for recreational camping effective June 2, 2020
- Council will revisit the outdoor pool opening at the June 15, 2020 meeting (waiting for Governor Reynolds recommendation)
- Rec Center pool will open for water walking on June 8th – call the Rec Center for more details (712-364-3716)
- City ball fields opening June 2, 2020 with rules and guidelines put in place
- Yoga in the park has been approved
- Community rooms at City Hall and the Rec Center will remain closed at this time
- City Council will make effort to begin meeting in-person, with the public continuing to attend meetings via electronic means until further notice

Important City Updates
The City Council held an emergency meeting this morning at 8:00 am to discuss proactive measures regarding COVID-19. As a result of the meeting, the following decisions were made:
City Hall is closed to the public, effective immediately, until further notice. If you need assistance, please call City Hall at 712-364-2428. All payments/correspondence can be dropped off in the drop box located directly outside of City Hall.
The Rec Center is closed to the public as of close of business tonight
The Library is closed to the public as of close of business tonight
These were not easy decisions for the Council to make – but they did so with our community’s best interest at heart. All events/meetings that were scheduled at the above places have also been cancelled or postponed. Please follow the City’s website and Facebook page for further updates. City Hall has been made aware of some residents not receiving their monthly utility bill. Bills are due on the 15th of the month and balance due can be obtained by contacting City Hall at 364-2428 if you have not received your bill. We apologize for the inconvenience!
